The weather here is still a bit up and down, it's been routinely windy, somewhat overcast, although some pretty good sun, and even occasional rain. Highs in the mid 70's or so, lows in the 50's - same forecast for the next few days.
Tomorrow (Mon., 7/20), we leave for 3 days in London. A few of the other boys made contact today and everything seems to be going well. Several of the host families took their boys to the Kent County Show - an apparently larger version of our county fairs. Ryan and Jacob went yesterday (as did Tom and Paul Sillibourne, where Tom picked up a swell Kent wool cap) - see Tom's picture of Jacob's excitement at the cow judging show and Ryan doing the high-wire climb. Josh went to the show (fair) today - after apparently sleeping 16 hours on Saturday. He said that he saw Dan there as well. Andy's host family took him bowling and to Leeds Castle over the weekend, while Jim's host family took him to a movie (Harry Potter, of course) and touring around the city of Ashford. Nick's the only one I haven't heard from or of - no late night calls from the local police, so I guess all is good.
I guess I should mention that a full two-thirds of our boys have already had trouble reigning in the spending - souvenirs maybe be thinner than expected - maybe we need to work (or rework) on the Finance & Budget merits badges.
Paul Sillibourne drove Tom and I to the other side of London to Windsor Castle (see picture) - one of the homes of the Queen. Her flag was posted above the main castle - meaning she was in residence - but she stood us up. Quite a remarkable, historical, and interesting place.
Anyway, computer access may be tough for a few days, but I'll try to update when I can.
